home energy audits and energy efficiency upgrades

What Services We Provide

As a home performance contractor, we follow a strict set of procedures to make sure the measures are installed correctly based on performance standards. Upon completion of the retrofitting work, we do the diagnostic tests again we did during the Whole Home Performance Check Up and compare them to our original results so we can document the improvements we have made. We are a verified contractor with the California Building Performance Contractors Association (CBPCA) which has a third party verification process to ensure you that we are keeping to our promises.

1) Insulation – There are numerous types of insulation. Our tests will determine what the best options are to use. They range from, blown cellulose insulation, expanding foam, and extreme environmentally friendly insulations.

2) Duct Sealing – Our duct blaster test and smoke test will determine where and how many leaks there are in your system. The average home has 30% duct leakage, while our goal is to get a zero leakage result.

3) Duct Replacement – When necessary, we will replace your whole duct system achieving zero leakage.

4) Lighting Retrofits –We can make suggestions and replacement of existing lights that will reduce your energy consumption.

5) Renewable Energy – From solar to wind we can do it all. We can design and install a photovoltaic (PV) system that generates clean, free electricity. Where space allows, enough panels can be installed that will make your meter spin backwards, giving you credit with your local utility company. There are now home wind turbines that can generate free electricity for your home or business.

6) Building Envelope Sealing – Our blower door test shows leaks in your building envelope. We can seal these leaks, which increase your energy savings and indoor air quality.

7) Crawl Space Sealing – This helps prevent air infiltration and moisture in your home

8 ) Day lighting – Install skylights and solar light tubes that reduce electrical use.

9) Drip Irrigation Systems – Highly efficient watering systems can be installed, reducing use and waste.

10) Drought tolerant Landscaping (Xeriscaping) – Drastically reducing the amount of water needed to keep your plants healthy and beautiful

11) Water Management – We can install highly efficient showerheads and dual flush toilets that reduce water consumption.

12) Whole House Fan – We can install an air evacuation fan that helps circulate air thoughout the home and removing excess heated air.

13) Hot Water Systems – We can suggest and install either: highly efficient conventional hot water heaters, solar, or a Tankless/Flash Hot water heaters for both your home and your pool.

14) Heating and Cooling Systems – Normally a smaller more efficient heater and air conditioner can be installed that will heat or cool your home with less temperature variances and less utility bills.

15) Pipe Insulation – We can insulate your hot water pipes and water heater to improve efficiency.

16) Window Replacement – Upgrading your windows to double paned low E windows will drastically reduce air and noise infiltration and reduce energy consumption.

17) Appliance Replacement – There have been major advances in technology that makes it more cost effective to replace old refrigerators, dishwashers, and washers/dryers with more efficient models. The savings on utility bills from some appliances pays for itself in a year or two.

18) Whole House Air Filtration – In some homes indoor air quality can be 3 times worse than outdoor air, without proper air filtration from air particles and pollen.

19) Water Filtration – For areas with poor water quality sediment and activated carbon filters can be installed.

20) Saltwater Pool Conversions – Changing your pool from the normal chlorine based pool system to a salt water system is healthier and more efficient.

These are just a few of the retrofits we can do to make you home more energy efficient, comfortable, healthier, durable, better indoor air quality and less of an impact on the environment.
